Respected Commissioner Yu Yanhong, Vice President Li Xikui, guests, Ladies and gentlemen, friends,

Good morning, everyone!

Gansu is an important birthplace of Chinese civilization, a key region of the ancient Silk Road, and a significant origin of traditional Chinese medicine, being one of the main production areas of medicinal materials in China. Gansu has historically contributed to world peace, trade cooperation, and cultural exchange along the ancient Silk Road, and today it remains a golden key to promoting the connectivity of the Belt and Road.

According to historical records, the overseas spread of traditional Chinese medicine via the ancient Silk Road began as early as the Han Dynasty, flourishing during the Sui and Tang Dynasties. Traditional Chinese medicine has been rooted in the countries along the ancient Silk Road through trade activities since ancient times and is now becoming a new highlight of the high-quality construction of the Belt and Road, enhancing the health and well-being of people worldwide.

Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, Gansu Province has earnestly implemented the important discourses of President Xi Jinping on traditional Chinese medicine and the decisions and deployments of the Central Committee and the State Council. Seizing the strategic opportunity of the Belt and Road, Gansu has deeply advanced the construction of the national traditional Chinese medicine industry development comprehensive pilot area, striving to transform its locational and resource advantages into developmental advantages, adhering to ‘replacing medicine with culture, medicine with medical treatment, and business with medicine,’ and fully promoting the high-quality development of Gansu's traditional Chinese medicine.
